Karen Huntoon, Optical Coordinator
That bright and wonderful smile says it all about Karen. Her sunny outlook underscores Karen’s passion for helping others. As a supervisor in production environments for many years, she found that being an Optician was the career for her. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, and baking. At one time, she and hubby Shane enjoyed competitive bike racing with Karen being recognized as one of the best female bikers for the western region. Alas, Karen was forced to end her competitive bike racing days when at 6 months pregnant with son Riley, she found she couldn’t reach those handlebars!
Shirley Poon, Optician
Shirley is a boomer who found her retirement from corporate life to be a challenge. Desiring an opportunity to interact closely with people about vision products and fashion, she studied and trained in Washington state. There she earned her optical dispensing license, as well as her national certifications (ABO/NCLE). Today, she loves putting her training into action with patients who seek eyewear guidance.
Jennell Wheeler, Vision Therapy Coordinator
Our friendly and engaging Jennell is a natural with young people and children. She’s a former student at Chabot Junior College where she studied social science. She’s newly married, and looks forward to having children.
Nastaran Amini, Front Office Administration

She has worked at the office while completing college and a Master’s program in Counseling. She is an expert on vision insurance, as well as all front desk administration matters. In her spare time from school and work, Nastaran enjoys going to music concerts and socializing with her many friends.
Veronica David, Front Desk Coordinator
With her calm and easy manner, Veronica brings a soothing coordination of the bustling activities of our front office. She began her work career in an optometry office in San Francisco, providing 11 years of dedicated service before a growing family called for a move to the sunny side of the bay. A mother of 3 active boys, Veronica enjoys being involved in her sons’ swimming and water polo events, baking and doing arts and crafts. And because she was born and raised in San Francisco, she is a big 49er and Giants fan!
